Grader fun
(I’ll spare you the eggy puns this time!)
April has seen us edging closer to getting our producer number for our eggs that will enable us to sell beyond the farm gate – we’re now having email conversations with the egg marketing inspector who will need to come and inspect our setup in due course.
To this end we’ve been working on getting our egg grader up and running. With a few teething troubles as we work out the idiosyncrasies of a piece of equipment that is possibly 75yrs old we have had it running and grading our eggs. For the time being however we’re still selling mixed sizes/colours of eggs in trays or half dozen boxes from our kiosk. Our hens are in production overdrive now, with the warmer weather so our daily collection is now creeping up to nearly 70 eggs.

9 healthy lambs
Our lambing has now completed with 9 healthy lambs from 6 ewes and they’re all growing like weeds and using their paddock as a racetrack and playground which is a real pleasure to see. 4 ram lambs, and 5 ewe lambs.
We’ve just had a new clear TB test (phew!) and will have beef boxes available within the next 2 or 3 months.
