A continuation of a family tradition — with a modern, muddier twist.

Throughout 2025 I’ve been writing monthly articles for the village newsletter, sharing the ups, downs, mud, mishaps and small triumphs of life here at Western Farm. I’ve now gathered those pieces together and turned them into blog posts so they’re accessible to everyone, not just those who receive the newsletter. Over the next little while I’ll be adding photos to each post as I work through the year’s images, so some entries will be text‑only to begin with.

Western Progress was also the name of a publication written in the 1950s by Paul’s grandfather, documenting life on this very farm. Reviving the name feels like picking up a thread that’s been waiting for someone to carry it on — a way of honouring the past while recording the present.

My hope is to continue with a regular monthly round‑up here on the website: honest, unpolished stories straight from the fields, sheds, hedgerows and history of Western Farm. If you enjoy following along, you’re very welcome here.
